Recently, Cargosmart analyzed the reliability of the shipping schedules of 24 maritime carriers on 12 routes. On the whole, the punctuality of shipping time decreased by 4.5% from 68.8% in August 2017 to 64.3% in September 2017.
From the analysis of trade routes, the reliability of the eight routes in September 2017 was lower than that in August. The most significant decline was in the trans-Pacific route, which was 10.7%, down from 74.4% in August to 63.7% in September. The shipping reliability of the Euro-Australian route increased most significantly, from 33.7% in August to 68.8% in September, an increase of 35.1%. The North American-Oceania route continues to maintain its highest position in September 2017 with 80.5% reliability.
From the perspective of the area where the port of unloading was located, the reliability of North America fell the most, from 74.6% in August 2017 to 59.2% in September, a decrease of 15.4%. Due to the many hurricanes in North America that affected the operations of North American ports in September, reliability in September declined. The region with the highest reliability in September 2017 was the Middle East with a reliability of 79.8%. Africa has the lowest reliability of 26.9%.
From August to September 2017, the reliability of 21 of the 24 carriers declined in varying degrees.
The top five most reliable carriers in September 2017 were: Muller Asia Shipping (MCC), Chile Shipping (CCNI), OOCL, CMA CGM, and COSCO SHIPPING Lines. The average on-time performance of Hong Kong arrivals was 78.3%, 75.5%, 72.8%, 71.7% and 71.0%, respectively.
