Alphaliner data shows that the global container port growth rate was 6.7% in the first half of 2017, and it is expected that the annual growth rate will be 6%.

According to Alphaliner's throughput of more than 250 container ports, the growth rate of global container ports in the second quarter of this year was 7.4%, which was significantly higher than the 5.9% growth rate in the first quarter, and will also increase the global container port growth in the first half of this year. Rose to 6.7%.

According to Alphaliner's weekly report, “The data is still strong in the first half of the second half of the year and it is expected that the global container ports will continue the above-mentioned good growth momentum in the second half of this year.” Therefore, it is expected that the annual growth rate will reach 6%, which is the best level since 2011.

Among them, South Asia's container port growth rate was the highest in the first half of the year, which was 9.3%. Among the global port countries, the growth rate of container ports in the United States and China was 8.2% and 8.4% respectively.

Among the top 20 container ports in the world, the growth rate of China's ports is the highest, and the growth rate of container throughput in Shanghai ports such as Shanghai Port, Ningbo Port of Zhoushan, Hong Kong Port and Guangzhou Port is higher than the global average. Among them, Ningbo Zhoushan Port achieved a container throughput of 12.36 million TEUs, a growth rate of up to 14.4%; Guangzhou Port's container throughput was 9.63 million TEUs, a growth rate of 11.7%; in the first half of this year, Hong Kong’s container throughput increased by 10.8% year-on-year. 19.19 million TEUs; the growth rates of Rotterdam Port and Shanghai Port also followed, with 9.9% and 9.6% respectively.

In addition, only two of the top 20 container ports in the world experienced negative growth. In other words, Klang Port in Malaysia fell 2.5% year-on-year to 6.3 million TEUs, and Tanjung Pelepas Port fell 4% to 4.1 million TEUs.
